  • Lesson content generated using the AI tools

Optional data:

To help improve our service and develop future features, we also collect optional information:

  • Teaching role
  • Year group(s) taught
  • Years of experience
  • How you heard about us
  • Free-text responses to questions such as "What is your biggest teaching challenge?"

This optional data is never shared with third parties and is not required to use the core features of the platform.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. You must be 18 or older to use the AI Lesson Planner service.

3. How We Collect Your Data

We collect personal data when you:

  • Create an account
  • Subscribe to a paid plan
  • Use the lesson generation tools
  • Complete optional user questionnaires or onboarding fields
  • Contact us via email or support form

Payment data is handled securely via Stripe. We do not store full card numbers or security codes.

4. Why We Collect It

We collect and process your data to:

  • Create and maintain your user account
  • Provide access to lesson generation tools
  • Enable saved draft history and downloads
  • Improve our features based on teacher roles and preferences
  • Detect misuse or protect service integrity
  • Respond to support or legal enquiries

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling outside the scope of improving the product.

5. Our Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Contractual obligation – to provide services you subscribe to
  • Legitimate interest – to improve and secure our platform
  • Legal obligation – to comply with UK financial/tax regulations
  • Consent – for optional information or communications where applicable

You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us via the support form or email.

6. Where Your Data Is Stored and Processed

Our platform relies on third-party services to operate:

  • Neon (database provider)
  • Vercel (web hosting)
  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • OpenAI (AI content generation)

Your data may be processed outside the UK, including in the EEA and the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards and standard contractual clauses are in place with each provider.

All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

7. Use of OpenAI

We use OpenAI's API to generate lesson plans. When you input lesson criteria, this data is securely sent to OpenAI to generate your content.

OpenAI data handling:

  • OpenAI does not use your data to train or improve their models
  • Your data is not stored by OpenAI beyond temporary processing
  • OpenAI acts as a data sub-processor under our Data Processing Agreement

Your lesson content is saved in our secure database and associated with your account.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data:

  • While your subscription is active
  • For up to 24 months after cancellation or inactivity
  • Until you request account deletion or erasure under your data rights

After this period, your personal data and all associated lesson content will be permanently deleted from our systems.

9. Your Rights Under the UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access – Ask for a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification – Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure – Request deletion of your data
  • Restriction – Ask us to limit how we use your data
  • Objection – Object to certain processing uses
  • Portability – Request transfer of your data to another provider

We do not charge for these requests. You can submit a request by emailing support@mindbloomlearning.com or using our contact form. We will respond within one month.

10. Automated Decision-Making

Lesson plans are generated through automated AI processes (via OpenAI). These outputs are suggestions only and do not involve profiling or decision-making that affects your legal or professional rights.

You remain responsible for reviewing and adapting lesson content before classroom use.

User Responsibilities - Personal Data Prohibition

PROHIBITED USE: Users must not input personal data of students including names, addresses, health conditions, special educational needs status, or any other personally identifiable information. Violations may result in immediate account termination without refund.

Designed for Privacy: Our platform is specifically designed to work with anonymised placeholders and general educational content only. No real student data should ever be entered into the system.

AI Processing Transparency: All inputs are processed by OpenAI's API services. While we have contractual protections in place, users remain responsible for ensuring no personal data is submitted.
